About
Welcome to De Kluiver, a gem nestled at Kaai 6, 4511 RC Breskens, Netherlands. This charming restaurant, embraced by the picturesque backdrop of the harbor, is more than just a dining spot; it’s an experience that captures the essence of fresh seafood and warmth.
As I stepped into De Kluiver, the inviting atmosphere immediately set the stage for an extraordinary meal. The friendly staff were attentive and eager to ensure every guest felt right at home, echoing sentiments from patrons like Yourik Bossuyt who praised the "super" service and warmth of the people here.
But let’s talk about the true stars of the show—the dishes. De Kluiver is renowned for its impeccable seafood offerings. Take the seafood platter, highlighted by Hans-Joachim Puls as arguably the best in the Netherlands. Each bite bursts with freshness, a true testament to the quality of the ingredients used. The fish soup, as Leah Z noted, delights the senses with an orchestra of flavors and a variety of seafood, though one must be cautious of the occasional uninvited grain of sand. A culinary experience like this offers both depth and a connection to the water, embodying Breskens' rich maritime culture.
Families and friends come together over hearty portions and cozy tables, just like Vita Pidhaina's family did, embracing the menu's more delicate offerings, such as the generously portioned prawn and sardines. At De Kluiver, every meal feels like a celebration—whether you are enjoying the soothing ambiance or indulging in delightful seafood, every moment is crafted to foster joy.
With its stunning terrace and a dedication to serving only the freshest dishes, De Kluiver stands out not only for its food but for the heartfelt connections created within its walls. If you find yourself in the area, it’s worth the journey—after all, passionate diners like Hans-Joachim have traveled hundreds of kilometers, just for the chance to savor this extraordinary dining experience again. Discover De Kluiver, where every meal is an invitation to indulge and enjoy.
“ Prachtige locatie om heerlijk te eten. De bediening was super en de mensen daar zijn heel vriendelijk. ”
“ Nice restaurant by the harbour with pleasant environment Overall it’s a bit pricey but the food tastes nice. Personally I like the fish soup, very much flavoured with lots of seafood. I ordered small portion so I can try sardines (also small) as well. The big fish soup come with extra prawn. However, one of the shells in my soup contains lots of sands which is not a pleasant experience. The oysters are fresh, not that fat. ”
“ The best fish and seafood restaurant of the Netherlands. Highlight is the seafood platter or the green eal. Everything is fresh. Very friendly staff, nice terrace in a nice location. I'm coming here for years already, when being in Belgium or Netherlands. It is worth to drive some hundreds of km to eat here. ”
“ Very nice restaurant, friendly staff, cozy atmosphere and very tasty food. Our family really liked it, we recommend everyone to come and enjoy the delicious dishes. ”
